Vessels proceeding to discharge at this terminal moor alongside
another vessel which is used by HERMASA as storage house. |

The draft restriction for this terminal is imposed at Barra Norte
where the
maximun permissible draft for transiting at high water is 37'07''
feet,
brackish water (bw), considered by Brazilian Navy as safe and reasonable
.
Vessels proceeding to Itacoatiara on laden condition also have to
observe
the draft limitation at Mazagao Passage, where the draft shown during
low
water is about 9.8 meters.
Although the storage vessel from HERMASA is fitted with cranes,
Vessels have
to be self discharger with cranes working in good condition. If
necessary
there are grabs available for rental at Itacoatiara, but since they
do not
belong to HERMASA availability have to be confirmed quite in advance.
Discharge is usually performed 24 hours shinc at receiver's convenience
with
an average discharge rate of about 1,500 mt daily per gang.
During operations vessel's cranes are operated by shore stevedores.
